One of the key areas Wusthof pride themselves in is the made up and construction of the products they produce. Each knife is said to be made from a single piece of steel known as the chromium-molybdenum-vanadium steel.
Key features to note also is that the Rockwell hardness used is 58 with a steel formula of X50CRMOV15 on it’s blade. While we are not sure if these knives are hand forged or machinery is used. We do know that customers love the light yet durable material used, especially the handles. The very steel used to make these knives was selected as it is resistant to corrosion, rust and takes far long to dull.
The design on most Wusthof knives features a Bolster which aids in the balance as well as the safety of the knife, as a finger can be used to guide the knife away from the hands. The Bolster is also said to give some heft and balance for better cutting and craving. The handles themselves are said to be crafted from some of the strongest wood in Africa.
This particular wood was selected based on how resistant it was to wear and tear as well as the comfort on the hands.
Design and Performance
The Design and preference of the Wusthof knives, has a lot to do with the specific knife selected for purchase. Some of their products come with wooden handles like the Classic Wusthof knives, others come with curve handles made from ergonomic Polypropylene such as the Classic Ikon.
The African Blackwood is used on some products like the Ikon Black wood knives and other handles like the Culinar knives are made from pure stainless steel.
The design and make up if each knife is selected to enhance performance and to ensure a quality user experience. The most notable difference in the products is whether the particular knife you selct was hand forged or laser cut knives. Some of the laser cut knives in this brand include the Gourmet, Pro, Emeril and the Silverpoint 2. With most of the other titles being original products of the brand which are from the line of the knives that were forged and stamped.
The fact that the materials used to make these knives were so carefully selected has a lot to do with how lightweight, comfortable and easy to handle and handle these knives are. You will find that the shapr of the handles makes it easier for both large and small hands to hold, which is not the case with some other brands of knives. Having a beautiful set of knives in the kitchen that also performs and cuts well can be absolutely priceless.
Sharpness and Durability
One of the best qualities of the Wusthof knife is simply how sharp they are. Not only that but the fact that they keep this sharpness for a long time and is also very easy to sharpen when needed is also a plus. The laser control precision sharpening that these knives received are to be credited For this, with each side being sharpened at an 14 degree angle on each side. The very area that the knives were created in is known as the city of blades, giving the company a reputation to live up to.
One could even say that the sharper the knife keeps is the last it will need to be sharpened making it even more durable. Every piece of material used to construct this knife what’s selected based on its ability to resist corrosion and to ensure that customers have their knife for the long run. It is not very often one can say that they have had their set of knives for 10, 15 or even 20 years.
For some Wusthof knife owners hoever that same can be said, giving the idea that if the right set of knives are selected they will be able to last close to a lifetime.
While most articles will highlight the reasons you should purchase a particular review, we would like to assume that hearing only good things is not your exact reason for your research. The cracking of the wood blockand some handles over time.
The truth is if one invests in what is thought to be a proper professional knife set, one would atleast expect to get a few years of use from this product. This is not always that case witht he Wusthof knives as there have been reports of cracking and damage to the wood blocks and some areas of the knives within months of purchase.
The Packaging for some of the knives
Well it is easy to agree that not all knife sets will come in a wood block. but it is also safe to say that if one is to invest in a quality knife that they expect quality packaging to come with it. For some customers this was not the case, as in some instances the packaging that the knife arrived in was not even suitable enough to present to someone as a gift.
Broken Blades after just a few months
One of the worst things one could possibly hear after purchasing a knife set is that one of your blades is broken. There have been instances where customers have complained that after only a few months the blade which was advertised as durable and long serving was already broken.
Missing Knives for purchased set
Even worse than having your knife break after only a few uses is your knives not showing up at all. There have been cases reported on amazon.com by verified users that knives from their set we’re missing entirely. It could have been a mix-up in the order or that the knives were falling out at some point either way some effort would have to be put into locating those knives.
Poor Fullfillment on Lifetime Guarantee
Yes it can be relatively easy to give lifetime guarantee on the products that you sell. The real work comes in when the customer has a problem with your knife set and cannot locate a customer service representative to assist or the customer service representative finds different reasons not to fulfil their lifetime guarantees. This has been the case reported with some verified customers who have purchased different sets of the Wusthof Knives.
